Genealogy is kind of addicting. Sometimes, I get rather lost in the branches. As such, I run into mysteries that I can't seem to solve from the top down. I figured the genealogy community is awesome and may have ways to help me solve a mystery. Otherwise, perhaps a Karlsberger from Franklin County, Ohio might stumble upon my blog and help me solve this problem. My potential 3rd great-grand uncle George Paul Karlsberger was born on 10 August 1825 in Bavaria. Another researcher suggested his connection to my 3rd great-grandmother Anna Magaretha Karlsberger who married Christian or Christopher Hoppe. Margaretha was born 29 February 1824. There are no definitive records linking George and Margaretha. And Margaretha's parents were not recorded, though parents for George were suggested. As you can see, I am about to head down a twig on the tree that might be gnarled, or legitimate. Joseph Geissler: Are Funeral Paper Neighbors Connected

N The mystery of my 3rd great-grandfather has many parts to investigate. Here's another installment of that investigation. In 2011, my distant Geiszler cousin theorized that perhaps there is no evidence to corroborate the story that Cousin Margie Geiszler Wasson told William Joseph Geiszler. Henry's father* was on horse back and rode into Ft. Hayes. Guard yelled Halt. He only spoke German and as the story went didn't understand. So the guard shot him and he died.   His widow married a Billman and lived on a farm in Georgesville. As a boy this is where my dad* visited and remembered his grandmother driving her horse. * Henry is Henry Joseph Geiszler b. 1859 in Columbus, Ohio. Journey to the Past: Meeting My Father's Cousins and Getting Priceless Treasures

After spending a few hours at the Columbus Metropolitan Library , it was time to go meet my father's cousins. I'll admit that I left later than I should have and everything that could then delay me, did. First, I lost my parking garage ticket. The CML personnel was awesome and helped me out, but that sucked up time. Then I didn't understand the GPS when I needed to make a turn and missed one. Then the GPS didn't understand that a HUGE CHUNK of I-71 was missing. No matter how many times I attempted to get the GPS to do an alternate route, it kept sending me back to the section of I-71 that didn't exist. Finally, I decided to drive completely wrong and the GPS would have to give me a route. The long and short of it, I was 30 minutes late. UGH! I was really sorry. My dad's cousins were AWESOME! We soon went out to Friendly's for lunch. I hadn't eaten at Friendly's since I lived in New York. It was a bit nostalgic. I didn't actually get any...
