Whew! This summer has been a wild ride for my family. In actuality, it started in October 2013 when his company announced plans to reorganize his engineering group. It ended at the end of July with us moving back to my home state of Texas. Furthermore, I'm 1 hour away from my hometown of Sugar Land, TX. For those who know anything about Houston, we're in the Northeast side now. So, I'm truly back home, just on the other side of town. The moving truck arrives and a neighbor welcomes my daughter to our new home. Hello Texas! In addition to the relocation, I have exciting news. My church leaders have requested that I serve our congregation as a Family History Consultant . How cool is that? I have even more of an excuse to teach and inspire others to do their own family history. Woo-hoo! I love when a receive an email that says " Find A Grave Photo Request: Success!" I'm going to share a few that I've recently received: Patty did a GREAT job photographing the gravemarkers for Michael Carrington Geisler and his second wife Sarah Jane Drew . Gravemarker for  Michael Geisler  and his wife  Jane  by  Patty Obetz Cemetery, Franklin County, Ohio Michael Geisler was born Nov. 20, 1830, in Bavaria and died Oct. 1, 1920, in Franklin County, Ohio. His wife Jane (interestingly both were on their second marriage when they wed). Jane was born May 12, 1841, in Ireland and died Mar. 5, 1928 in Franklin County, Ohio. Patty took a second picture showing the top of the stone. Kudos to you for photographing multiple angles! I opened the mail on Monday and was surprised to receive an envelope from Ohio. Not recognizing the return address name at first, I opened the manila 5x7 sized envelope with "Photo Do Not Bend" on the outside. Since my mother passed away in December and I sent "in case you missed it letter" to her friends in her phone book, I thought this would be a photo of my parents and some of her Ohio friends. Boy was I ever excited to be wrong. Inside was a note from someone I had connected to through Ancestry.com . We had spoken Freda and Frank Grener of Columbus, Ohio. They are two of the eight children belonging to my 2nd great grand aunt Mary Elizabeth Geißler Grener. Lisey was the daughter of my 3rd great grandmother Caroline Mäck who married Joseph Geißler (by Geißler brick wall) and then Michael Billman . Whew!!! I can't say how excited I am. Let's just say I should probably video tape this happy dance. Here's how it all started. My ancestor Leon Philip Smith was a bugger to figure out because his posterity only knew him as Philip Smith. Once I figured out he was LEON Philip Smith, I was able to connect him into a line that has had work done for generations prior to this one. His wife was only known as Katherine for the longest time. Philip was buried with his second wife Mary Smith in the Green Lawn Cemetery. But where was Katherine buried? I forgot the step that lead me to realize that Katherine's name was Catherine Dague. But, I figured it out. I've been working on a series of blogs, and potentially a book, pertaining to creating a family history scrapbook. I think there are some good books on the market but there are some aspects just not covered and I want to share my knowledge. In any case, the process has been fairly daunting and my opportunity to write as well as the flow of ideas has been so intermittent. However, it seems the children have been doing well and chances to write have opened up. As the opportunities have opened up, my flow of thoughts hasn't stopped coming. I can't say how thankful I am to divine Providence for blessing me with both opportunity and creativity to capture the words out of my mind. In the middle of it all, I've had many genealogy finds or service opportunities.
